Colombian authorities said on Monday that the number of people infected with A/H1N1 flu in the country rose to 13, and the last reported case was in the national capital Bogota.
Bogota's Health Director Hector Zambrano said that that the new case involved a patient who was in contact with a person who came from Mexico. After developing the flu symptoms, the patient was isolated at home.
"The infected person is out of danger, it does not represent a risk for the other people and it was proved that he did not infect other members of his family," Zambrano told reporters.
According to Zambrano, the patient currently does not have symptoms. "That proves that most of the cases can be treated out of hospital and if many cases are proved positive, if the community follows the suggestions the disease will stop without putting in danger the life of the patients," said Zambrano.
The confirmed cases in Colombia were in the departments of Casanare and Cali, as well as in the locality of Zipaquira and in Bogota.
