The Health Bureau of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Tuesday said 25 students at a local primary school were reported to show symptoms of respiratory infection, but medical test results have ruled them out of being infected with A/H1N1 flu.

The 25 students have been sent to local hospital after showing symptoms of fever, pain in the throat and coughing, and the authorities have collected samples from their respiratory tract and have them lab-tested, the Health Bureau said.

The Bureau has ordered the school in question to strengthen prevention measures such as cleaning, sterilizing and ventilation, and require those student patients to take sick leave.

Meanwhile, two Japanese tourists, a 64-year-old male and a 30-year-old female, were detected to have fever upon arriving in Macao, but they were ruled out of being infected with the A/H1N1 flu after further medical test, according to the Health Bureau.

A total of 88 child patients and 67 adult patients with respiratory symptoms were reported in the SAR's biggest public hospital on Tuesday, but there was no "possible" or "confirmed"H1N1 cases detected, according to the figures released from the SAR's Health Bureau.
