A Peruvian woman was infected with the A/H1N1 flu after she came back from a trip to the United States, the country's health minister said on Thursday.
This is the first confirmed case in Peru.
The 27-year-old woman returned home on May 9 and tested positive the following day, Oscar Ugarte told reporters.
The woman's symptoms have been largely relieved and was quarantined at home, the minister said.
There are altogether 9 cases of suspected cases in the country. Since April 23, Peru has put the international airport of the capital Lima under a 24-hour monitoring and tested thousands of people from the United States and Mexico, worst-hit areas by the flu outbreak.
