Edgar hernandez, a 5-year-old Mexican boy, was the first comfirmed sufferer from influenza A/H1N1. Edgar has now recovered from the influenza.
La Gloria, a village of 3,000 people where Edgar lives in, came under the global spotlight after Edgar's confirmation as A/H1N1 victim.
"The local government will send people to do all kinds of medical examinations on him every few days and ask him if he sleeps well, eats well and feels well. I told them that Edgar is very healthy at the moment." said Maria, Edgar's mother.
Maria said because there were no livestock nor pets in the family, she believed Edgar could not have become infected from animals.
Edgar woke with a high fever on the morning of April 1, feeling weak and having a bad headache, said Maria.
He showed no signs of recovery after taking some medicine prescribed by doctors from the village clinic. They said he had just a common cold.
On April 4, several medical staff from the local government came to Edgar's home to take saliva samples.
Edgar felt better and recovered from the sickness after five days.
However, Maria was informed by the local government staff on April 27 that Edgar was confirmed to have A/H1N1 virus, becoming the first sufferer in Mexico.
A big banner with "In La Gloria, influenza A/H1N1 has disappeared" on it is hanging at the entrance to the village.
Few people in La Gloria are wearing face masks; the government checks their health regularly.
Although A/H1N1 influenza is still spreading across the world, the life of La Gloria has already returned to normal.
