The total of confirmed A/H1N1 flu cases in Canada has risen to 280, with 38 new cases added Saturday, according to the latest figures from the Public Health Agency of Canada on Saturday.
Nineteen new cases were confirmed in British Columbia for a total of 79 cases, making it the province with the most cases.
Ontario reported 15 new confirmed cases, bringing its total to 76. Alberta recorded four more cases.
In another related development, officials in Alberta culled 500 hogs on the pig farm where the A/H1N1 flu virus was detected.
However the cull was not because the animals were sick, but because the farm was two crowded as the pigs are being quarantined and cannot be moved off the farm as usual.
So far there has been one death related to the new flu virus in Canada. Most of the cases have been mild.
