China Charity Federation Receives 566 Mln Yuan in Quake Donation

The China Charity Federation said on Saturday it had received 566 million yuan (about US$83 million) in donation via banks as of 3 p.m. Friday to the quake-hit northwest China's Qinghai Province.
The Federation had published donation information on its official website and the website of the civil affairs ministry to ensure transparent information and accept public supervision, it said.
The Federation, founded in 1994, is a non-profit public welfare institution with 273 member units nationwide.
The 7.1-magnitude quake that struck Qinghai last Wednesday has left at least 2,192 dead, 78 missing and more than 12,000 injured.
Qinghai had received more than 722 million yuan in donation as of Friday, including 328 million yuan in cash and 394 million yuan worth of supplies.
A television charity show broadcast nationwide by China Central Television raised 2.175 billion yuan in donation to the quake zone on Tuesday evening.
