HK Charity Organizations Donate for Earthquake Victims in NW China

Hong Kong's leading charity donor, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Friday donated 3 million Hong Kong dollars (US$386,946) to earthquake-hit area in northwestern China's Qinghai Province to help disaster relief.

Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Chairman, Billy Leung, handed over the donation check to Li Guikang, deputy head of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong.

Leung expressed sympathy with the earthquake victims in Qinghai and hoped that they could rebuild their homeland as soon as possible.

Also in the day, another charity organization founded by known entrepreneur Xu Rongmao handed over 5 million Hong Kong dollars to earthquake victims in Qinghai via the Liaison Office.

So far, Hong Kong's charity donors had contributed nearly 20 million Hong Kong dollars for earthquake victims via the Liaison Office following the fatal quake in northwestern China.

On Wednesday, the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu in Qinghai was hit by a 7.1-magnitude quake. So far, it has left at least 791 people dead, 11,486 others injured, and 294 missing.
