Donations from around China have been flowing into the northwestern Qinghai Province to help the affected people recover and rebuild after Wednesday's earthquake.
Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province had sent its first donations totaling 150,000 yuan (about US$22,000) to Qinghai's Red Cross Society, said a provincial government spokesman Thursday.
East China's Fujian Province also announced an initial donation of 5 million yuan to the quake-hit region.
Shanghai and south China's Guangdong Province each announced collections of 10 million yuan for quake relief Thursday.
In northeast China's Jilin Province, the provincial government donated 8 million yuan, while many citizens and foreigners in Changchun, the provincial capital, also pitched in.
As of 3:00 PM Thursday, the Jilin Province Charitable Society had received almost 100,000 yuan from the public.
Chandran Gokul, an Indian manager of the food and beverage department of the HNA Hotel in Changchun, donated 200 yuan. He said he had been working in China for five years, and when he heard the earthquake in Qinghai he wanted to do something for the people in the region.
