What Are the Functions and Powers of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee?

To interpret the charter of the CPPCC and supervise the enforcement of the charter.

To convene and chair the plenary sessions of the National Committee. However the first plenary session of a new National Committee is chaired by the presidium elected at the session.

To organize CPPCC members for accomplishing tasks outlined in the charter.

To carry out resolutions made at the plenary sessions of the National Committee.

To review and pass important proposals to be submitted to the National People's Congress and its Standing Committee or the State Council when the National Committee is not in session.

To appoint and remove deputy secretary-generals of the National Committee based on motions of the secretary-general.

To decide the setup and changes of working offices of the National Committee and appoint and remove leading members of these offices.
