Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said on Friday to increase the contribution to the International Monetary Fund is not the matter of a single country.
"We advocate that member countries of the IMF should shoulder responsibilities jointly in accordance with their quotas," said Wen when asked whether China could boost its contribution to the IMF.
"Any country's increase of its contribution to the IMF should be considered in the light of their own situations and be based on the voluntary principle," said Wen.
He called for reforming the internal governance structure of the IMF to fend off financing and investment risks, balance rights and obligations and pay more attention to the interests of developing countries.
"We also encourage other international financial institutions to resort to various ways of financing," said Wen.
