China needs to frame a law to secure computer information network, and unify standard for filtering unhealthy Internet information, a lawmaker said on Sunday.

"Unhealthy Internet information keeps on emerging despite of repeated crackdowns," said Zhang Xinjian, general manager of Zhejiang Telecom Company, blaming different filtering standards applied by different agents for the chronic problem.

Zhang, deputy of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), said there should be a reward system that encourages the public to report unhealthy content to the regulators.

There should also be a system that allow regulators to track down websites where unhealthy content was captured by the filtering system, he said.

China has shut down nearly 2,000 websites that contain pornographic and "lewd" materials since the beginning of the year, when the authorities launched an Internet cleansing campaign.
