Mainland Donates 1,000 Prefabricated Houses to Taiwan

The government of Shenzhen city in southern China on Sunday decided to donate 1,000 prefabricated houses, which will arrive to Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, on Monday.
Meanwhile, mainland Red Cross organizations, leagues of banks, Buddhist associations and large companies have allocated thousands of millions of yuan to help relieve the disaster, official said.
Member companies of the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) donated more than 100 million yuan (US$14.6 million) and 5 million HK dollars (US$645,000).
The mainland's Red Cross Society offered 15 million yuan (US$2.2 million) to the island's Red Cross organization, and the mainland's Buddhist Association allocated 5 million yuan (US$732,000).
The China Southern Airlines, the China Eastern Airlines, and the Fujian Provincial Red Cross, the China Union Pay and the China Disabled Persons Federation each donated 1 million yuan (US$146,000).
Typhoon Morakot has killed at least 124 people and left 56 missing in Taiwan as of 10:00 PM on Saturday, according to local disaster response authorities.
