Over 120 young volunteers participated in the first stop of the "Poverty Reduction Relay 2012" charity campaign at the Badaling Great Wall on Sunday.

The campaign was co-organized by China's branch of the United Nations Youth Assembly and Yinongdai, a P2P lending platform for rural farmers in China.

The participants were divided into 10 teams, with each team having to introduce different poverty relief efforts, and more particularly the development of micro-credits in China, to passersby. They collected wish cards from them and conducted a survey on the public awareness of micro-credits. The team that finished the most, won.

Organizers will select 30 students to participate in the Youth Assembly at UN headquarters this fall, six of whom will be delivering a speech on behalf of China's youth.

Chief organizer of the campaign, Xu Xiuling, encourages students to promote poverty reduction efforts to Great Wall travelers on Sunday. [CnDG by Jiao Meng]
