The Dominican Republic's Armed Forces on Thursday began to set up 2,600 temporary shelters for quake victims in Haiti.

The tents will be placed in Fond Parisien, Port-au-Prince and other cities in Haiti, the Armed Forces said in a statement.

The temporary shelters are part of the relief plan of the Armed Forces named "Friendly Hand."

The plan also included the establishment of mobile toilets and water tanks with a capacity of 100-1,000 gallons of water.

The Armed Forces officers will also offer sanitation training for Haitian civilians.
