The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Sunday that China would provide medical supplies worth 18 million yuan (US$2.64 million) in additional aid to quake-ravaged Haiti.

A Chinese medical care and epidemic prevention team would depart for Haiti from Beijing Capital International Airport Sunday afternoon, the MOC said in a statement posted on its website.

A chartered flight would carry the 40-member medical team to Haiti. It would also carry 20 tonnes of medical supplies, including medicines, hygiene equipment, medical devices and camping equipment, the ministry said.

Earlier, China had announced emergency humanitarian aid worth 30 million yuan (US$4.41 million) to Haiti.
