The Haitian government said Friday that the number of people killed in last week's devastating earthquake has surpassed 110,000.
The latest figure was announced by the Interior Ministry, which had previously said at least 75,000 people lost their lives in the country's worst earthquake in two centuries.
Nearly 200,000 people were injured and more than 600,000 left homeless after the 7.3-magnitude quake hit the small Caribbean nation on January 12, the ministry said.
Haitian officials estimated that the final death toll could reach 200,000.
