Adjust font size:

UN peacekeepers in Port-au-Prince are distributing supplies to earthquake victims and attempting to calm angry crowds who are desperate for aid.

The commander of the UN force in Haiti says the "two main problems" of security and aid in Haiti are connected.

A week after the quake struck, the UN food agency says 270-thousand people had received food and other aid that's only a small percentage of the 3-and-a-half million affected by the disaster.

The UN's goal is to feed one millionm people this week, and at least two million in the next couple of weeks.
