Canada will send more than 1,000 soldiers to Haiti next week for quake relief, the Globe and Mail reported on Saturday.
The report said the army had told 800 troops from CPB Valcartier in Quebec to be ready to deploy to Haiti.
There are nearly 150 Canadian Forces personnel already in Haiti. Another 500 Canadians are due to arrive in Port-au-Prince on Monday or Tuesday next week.
To help the Haitians who are affected by the earthquake to reunite with their family members in Canada, Canadian government also plans to ease immigration rules to allow Haiti refugees to enter Canada quickly. And those in Canada who are required to return to Haiti, will be granted an extension.
There are about 150,000 people of Haitian origin in Canada, and about 6,000 Canadian citizens live in Haiti.
Four Canadians died in the quake, 13 were injured and about 1,415 are still missing, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon said Friday.
