A Boeing-747 jumbo jet carrying 90tonnes of Chinese government's emergency humanitarian aid cargo is scheduled to take off from Beijing Capital International Airport to quake-hit Haiti at around 12:00 PM on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The 13 million yuan (US$1.9 million) quake-relief materials, including tents, stretchers, food, medicines, clothing and water purification equipment, will be China's first batch of aid to the Caribbean country.
Ministry of National Defense spokesman Huang Xueping said on Friday that China's military departments had all been mobilized to raise the aid.
The aid is part of an aid package worth 30 million yuan (US$4.41 million) announced by China earlier Friday.
A Chinese emergency rescue team has arrived in Haiti, which was rocked by a 7.3-magnitude earthquake on Tuesday.
