The Red Cross estimates that between 45 and 50 thousand people were killed in Haiti, in Tuesday's magnitude-7 earthquake.
Satellite pictures show the extent of destruction in the capital city, with collapsed buildings and displaced people on the streets. Trucks carrying police and United Nations workers are getting stuck in traffic jams as they try to deliver much needed equipment to clear away debris.
Amateur video shows the moment the quake struck the streets are shaken, houses collapse and panicked people run from their cars as buildings fall down around them.
