Rescue teams from other countries around the world have also arrived in Haiti, and much more help is underway.

64 British firefighters arrived in Port-au-Prince with heavy-lifting equipment and sniffer dogs to carry out search and rescue work.

On Thursday, Britain announced US$10 million in aid for Haiti.

British PM Gordon Brown said, "We, the British government, will match what the United Nations has already announced. So we will provide what they have, US$10 million of aid immediately, and we will continue to assess the position."

A 220-strong Israeli army delegation, including a field hospital and a military rescue unit, is expected to leave for Haiti Thursday evening.

Neighboring Jordan has also joined international efforts.

France is preparing to send medical aid and reinforcements to the disaster zone.

One aircraft was set to leave on Thursday evening, carrying 100 tons of medical equipment to set up a field hospital.

Latin American countries, including Brazil, Mexico and Chile, have also sent rescue teams and aid to Haiti for the relief efforts.

Charities from around the globe are also racing to send aid and disaster relief teams to help hundreds of thousands of survivors in the quake-zone.
