Palestinian Fatah movement's congress, held in the West Bank city of Bethlehem, adopted late on Saturday night a provision in its platform says "the Palestinians have the right to resist the Israeli occupation by all possible means."
A senior Palestinian source told Xinhua that an overwhelming majority in the congress passed a provision in the group's political platform, says Fatah, which is a liberation movement clings to ending the occupation and gaining independence.
"Although we cling to make a just peace, and keep seeking to achieve it, we won"t drop any of our other choices. We believe that resistance, by all possible means, is the occupied nations' legal right to confront their occupiers," said the provision.
Fatah movement's political platform's provision also said "the basic conflict of Fatah is with the Israeli occupation, other minor conflicts are still considered secondary conflicts, and can be resolved through dialogue."
It continued "But in parallel, we keep the right of using all available means to defend the national unity, the Palestinian legitimacy and the Palestinian independent decision."
The first general congress of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's party held since last Tuesday, with around 2,200 members from home and abroad, in addition to 80 delegations coming from Arab and other foreign countries.
The conference in 20 years on Saturday again delayed its leadership election and might hold it on Sunday or Monday.
