The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) on Sunday accused Israel of trying to turn future peace talks into orders rather than a negotiation process.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu "now wants to turn the negotiations into dictation of orders and so his government must shoulder the responsibility for foiling international efforts to launch the peace process," said Saeb Erekat, a senior Palestinian peace negotiator.

At the weekly cabinet meeting of his hard-line government, Netanyahu said that Israel has a full sovereignty on Jerusalem and the holy city shouldn't be subject to any negotiations with the Palestinians.

Erekat said that Netanyahu's new comments show that he "defies the international consensus," Erekat told Xinhua.

The Palestinians have halted talks with Israel since Israel launched military offensive on the Gaza Strip in December and have been refusing to resume the negotiations until Netanyahu stops the settlement activities and clearly endorses a Palestinian statehood.

The Palestinian statehood is designated to be created in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and in East Jerusalem which they demand to be the capital.

Nearly 190,000 Israelis live in 12 settlements in East Jerusalem among 270,000 Palestinians.

Erekat renewed calls for the US administration to press Israel to meet its obligations under the Road Map peace plan.
