Mideast envoy Tony Blair on Tuesday urged Israel to take more measures to improve the life of the Palestinians in the West Bank.
Blair, envoy of the International Quartet Middle East, added that the Israel must match its pledges to ease the quality of life for the Palestinians here with actions on the ground.
His remarks were made as he toured Nablus city in the north of the Israeli-occupied West Bank and met Palestinian businessmen there.
More than 630 Israeli checkpoints and roadblocks in the West Bank made it very hard for the Palestinians to move between the towns and villages there. The Jewish state said it has removed 140checkpoints recently.
Blair, who arrived in Nablus Tuesday on a brief visit and left there, stated that the Palestinians will have a good chance to enjoy well-being life when they are given more freedom. "This can support the political solution between the Palestinians and the Israelis," Blair said, calling for a resumption to peace talks between the two sides.
On Monday, Blair visited Israel where he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and said that Israel was not getting enough credit for its many recent measures to improve conditions for the Palestinians in the West Bank, such as the removal of roadblocks and checkpoints.
