Instead of Fighting the PNA, Hamas Should Fight Israel

A senior West Bank Fatah movement leader slammed on Sunday the Islamic Resistance Movement, or Hamas, for planning to fight the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and its security forces.

"Instead of storing weapons and arms to fight Fatah movement and the Palestinian (National) Authority, Hamas should direct its arms to fight the real enemy, which is the Israeli occupation," Najat Abu Baker told Xinhua.

Earlier on Sunday, two Hamas militants, three members of President Mahmoud Abbas security forces and one civilian were killed in violent clashes in the West Bank city of Qalqilya.

Hamas accused Abbas security forces for killing its two militants and cracking down on the movement in the West Bank by arresting hundreds of its members and leaders in the region.

But the spokesman of the security forces in the West Bank, Adnan al-Dmeiri told reporters that the two Hamas militants are the ones who initiated the attack and opened fire at a Palestinian security force in the city.

Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades' spokesman Abu Obeida denied that the two militants had opened fire first, adding that the security forces of Abbas chased them, besieged the home they took refuge to and killed them.

"The leaders of Hamas in Gaza and Syria are held completely responsible for what happened in Qalqilya because they have been leading a campaign of incitement against Fatah and the Palestinian (National) Authority," said Abu Baker.

She reminded of a Hamas leaflet published last week calling on all its members to resist by all means any attempt of the security forces in the West Bank to arrest them.

"Instead of inciting their members and militants to resist and fight the security forces who are imposing calm and discipline, they should urge them to resist and fight the settlers and the Israeli occupation," she added.
