Captors Say Israeli Soldier Not to Free Unless Demands Met

Captors of Israeli soldier in Gaza on Tuesday said any new Israeli negotiator would not succeed in his mission unless his state responds to the Palestinian armed groups' demands.
"Any negotiator must know that his state has to release the Palestinian prisoners whose names appeared in the lists the Egyptian mediators handed over to the occupation (Israel)," said Abu Mujahed, a spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), a pro-Hamas militia.
His remarks followed reports that Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appointed one of his deputies as an envoy for the prisoner exchange talks.
Hamas, the PRC and the Army of Islam, the factions that hold Israeli corporal Gilad Shalit since 2006, "will not think in giving up any of their demands or removing any name," Abu Mujahed added.
Hamas wants Israel to release more than 1,000 Palestinian and Arab prisoners under the swap and has handed out a list of 450 prisoners who must be freed on the first phase of the exchange.
Israel rejected many names appeared in the Hamas list and Hamas insisted not to erase any name, forcing the Egyptian-mediated talks to stop for months.
