6 Hamas Members Arrested in West Bank

Adjust font size:

Palestinian security forces arrested six members of the Islamic Hamas movement in the West Bank, Hamas said on Wednesday.

The arrests were made Tuesday and the detainees included a son of a Hamas lawmaker and four university students, a Hamas statement said.

The arresting raids took place in the cities of Tulkarem, Ramallah and Hebron.

There are politically-motivated arrests among the Palestinians after Hamas routed pro-Abbas forces and seized control of the Gaza Strip in 2007.

Abbas' Fatah movement also said that Hamas is arresting its activists in Gaza and banning any public activity by Fatah in the coastal Strip.
