Palestinian National Comprehensive Dialogue Postponed

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) said on Sunday that the Palestinian national comprehensive dialogue, due to be held on May 18, was postponed for indefinite period of time.
The group said in a press statement that "the bilateral Fatah-Hamas dialogue gets around the comprehensive national dialogue as well as its resolutions agreed upon on February 26 and March 19 rounds."
The fifth round of Hamas-Fatah talks started in Cairo on Saturday, but the prolonged talks have achieved little so far. A Fatah source said earlier that the first day of the dialogue ended without achieving any progress.
Fatah and Hamas leaders agreed with Egypt first to end their mutual political differences, mainly forming a joint unity government, then to hold a comprehensive meeting that brings all factions together in one meeting.
"Since that time, the national dialogue is idle. Both factions hold their fifth secret and closed round, ignoring twelve Palestinian factions, and all the national syndicates, unions and personalities," said the group.
The DFLP affirmed that "this totally contradicts with the resolution of the Palestine Libration Organization's (PLO) executive committee to halt raising the issues of power struggle and influence between Fatah and Hamas."
It also said "the comprehensive national dialogue is the only way to national salvation, calling for legislative and presidential elections for the Palestinian National Authority as well as elections for a new unified National Council for the PLO."
