A senior leader of the Palestinian Islamic Hamas movement said on Sunday it is too early to decide whether to delay the inter-Palestinian reconciliation dialogue held in Cairo since Saturday.
The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) hadannounced in a press statement that the national comprehensive dialogue, due to be attended by all factions on Monday and Tuesday, will be postponed until a further notice.
Ismail Radwan told reporters that holding the comprehensive assembly, which will include all Palestinian political factions, would depend on the results of the bilateral talks between his movement and Fatah movement, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
"I can't hide the fact that the bilateral talks are difficult, mainly the issues related to forming the unity government, elections and security. There are no confirmed information on postponing the dialogue," said Radwan.
Commenting on other factions' criticism against the bilateral dialogue, Radwan said: "We are carrying out both bilateral and multilateral dialogue with all factions."
"I can't deny that there are obstacles on both levels, and we altogether work so hard in order to ease it and remove it until weachieve our goal which is unity and ending the rift," Radwan added.
On Saturday, a daylong of bilateral dialogue between Fatah and Hamas negotiators had ended without achieving any tangible progress on the substantial issues that the two sides are debating.
The two sides had stated that the aim of the dialogue is to enda two-year status of political and geographical rift between Gaza, controlled by Hamas, and the West Bank, ruled by President MahmoudAbbas' Fatah.
