Israeli F-16 warplanes struck on Monday the borderline between southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah and Egypt, aiming at destroying underground tunnels used for smuggling, witnesses said.

They said no injuries were reported, but added that it is the first time that Israeli F-16 warplanes target the eastern part of the town on the borders with Egypt. The area is very close to Rafah border crossing.

The Israeli air strike on Rafah borderline area came shortly after it was reported by Israel Radio that Gaza militants fired two homemade rockets from Gaza at southern Israel. No injuries or damages reported.

No one claimed responsibility for the homemade rocket attacks. Since a fragile unilateral truce declared by both Israel and Gaza militant groups, several homemade rockets were fired at Israel, inmost cases no one claimed responsibility.

Earlier on Monday, reports conflicted on the death of a Palestinian resident of northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, five others were also wounded.

Gaza emergency chief Mo'aweya Hassanein said that an Israeli tank fired a tank shell at al-Atatra neighborhood on Beit Lahia, killing a 25-year-old Palestinian and wounding five others, three in serious conditions.

However, Hamas security sources and witnesses said it was not a tank shell but an internal explosion, or what they termed as "a work accident." An Israeli Army spokesman denied that Israeli tanks had fired any shell at the area.

Medics in southern Gaza Strip said that another Palestinian died of his wounds early on Monday morning. The young man was critically wounded three days ago during an Israeli attack on eastern Khan Younis.

Meanwhile, The Israeli army forces arrested early on Monday 37 Palestinians in different West Bank areas, Palestinian security sources and Israeli Radio reported.

The Palestinian sources said that Israeli army forces stormed the West Bank towns and villages of Jenin, Nablus, Qalqilia, Ramallah and Hebron, adding that soldiers broke into houses and detained 37 people.

Israeli Radio, Arabic service, quoted Israeli army spokesman assaying that 37 Palestinians were arrested and taken to Israeli army detention centers for questioning, adding that they are wanted by Israeli security intelligence forces.

A spokesman for Islamic Jihad armed wing, Saraya al-Quds said on Monday that even if a long-term truce agreement is reached between Israeli and Gaza militants, the group would response to any Israeli attacks on the West Bank.

Abu Hamza, spokesman of the group's armed wing said in a statement that his movement would accept a ceasefire agreement "I fall factions accept it," however, he said "if the enemy attacks the West Bank during the truce, we will respond."

Egypt is mediating an 18-month-truce between Israel and Gaza militant groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements. However, the reaching of an agreement was blocked after Israel renewed more conditions.

Israel said that there will be no truce with militants, and there will be no lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip and reopening Gaza crossing points until captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit is getting released.

Hamas officials, who are currently in Cairo, rejected the Israeli conditions and said when the truce became imminent, "Israel is blocking reaching an 18-month-truce, lifting the blockade and reopening Gaza crossings."
