Israeli soldiers stationed at the Sofa Crossing on the border between southeast Gaza Strip and Israel, killed on Thursday night one Palestinian, local medics and Israeli radio reported.

The Arabic-service radio reported that Israeli soldiers saw a Palestinian approached the borders area, opened fire at him, where he was killed, without saying if the dead Palestinian was a militant or a civilian.

Gaza emergency and ambulance services center in Gaza said on Thursday night that paramedics received information to pick up the body of the Palestinian that was shot dead in the area.

Gaza hospitals did not say they have received the body of the Palestinian that was killed in that area.

Earlier on Thursday, Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian Islamic Jihad member in the village of Qabatia, south of the West Bank town of Jenin. Israel said Alla Abu el-robb, 21, was planning a suicide bombing attack into Israel.

The violence between Israel and the Palestinians mounted as Israel and Hamas movement, which rules Gaza, have not yet reached a longer term ceasefire agreement mediated by Egypt.

Israel has carried out on December 27, a 22-day military assault on the Gaza Strip aimed at weakening Hamas movement. However, around 1,400 people were killed and 5,500 wounded, most of them were civilians, women and children.
