Israeli F16 warplanes carried out on Tuesday evening two separate airstrikes by air-to-ground missiles on two separate targets in southern Gaza Strip, witnesses said.
The witnesses said that Israeli warplanes struck by two rockets the borderline area between southern Gaza Strip and Egypt, aiming at destroying tunnels used by Palestinians to smuggle goods from Egypt into Gaza.
They added they heard the Israeli warplanes hovering over the area and then heard two successive huge explosions in the area, adding no damages or injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes struck a post that belongs to Islamic Hamas movement's armed wing Al-Kassam Brigades, witnesses said, adding that one missile was fired at the post and destroyed it. No injuries were reported.
The Israeli army continued warning southern Gaza Strip residents of Rafah town by leaving recorded voice memos on their mobiles saying they should leave the area near the borders between Gaza Strip and Egypt.
Israeli aircraft had also showered the town of Rafah with thousands of flyers saying they should be away from areas expected to be bombarded, mainly the area near the borderline between Rafah and Egypt.
The Israeli airstrikes on southern Gaza Strip were carried out hours after Gaza militant groups claimed responsibility for firing several homemade rockets at towns and communities in southern Israel.
Efforts are exerted in Egypt to broker longer term truce between Israel and the Hamas movement. A Hamas delegation is currently in Cairo to inform Egypt they accept a one-year truce with Israel.
However, Israeli media reported that Amos Gilad, Secretary of the Israeli Defense Ministry had earlier said that Israel want a ceasefire deal for freeing captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit and opening Gaza crossings.
