Israeli tank shelling destroyed a house on Friday afternoon in the central Gaza Strip, killing a family including mother and her five children, local medical sources and witnesses said.

Local witnesses said that the 30-year-old mother and her children were killed in the Al-bureij refugee camp, where Israeli tanks were advancing toward the area on Friday afternoon.

Gaza emergency chief Mo'aweya Hassanein said before the tank shelling, a man was killed by an airstrike while he was driving a motorcycle in the southern strip of Khan Younis.

According to Hassanein, the death toll since the beginning of the Israeli massive attack on Gaza on December 27 has reach 1148, with an addition of 5200 wounded.
