Several thousand protesters on Friday afternoon took to the streets in downtown Pittsburgh where the Group of 20 (G20) Summit is being held.

Protesters first rallied at a square between Forbes Ave and Fifth Avenue of the downtown area, about two blocks away from the venue of the summit, where leaders from the world's major economies are discussing ways to pull the world economy out of the mire of the worst financial crisis since the 1930s.

The protest is being held peacefully with some 10,000 police, including riot police, watching closely in the surrounding areas.
