The leaders of the world's largest economies are arriving in Pittsburgh, in the US state of Pennsylvania, ahead of the Group of 20 summit. World leaders arrived throughout Thursday and headed into the city under heavy security.
The gathering, which follows G20 meetings last November in Washington and April in London, includes traditional industrial powers, along with major emerging economies such as China, India and Brazil.
The two days of meetings are intended to work out a common approach to advance the economic recovery, and prevent a recurrence of the global financial crisis. G20 leaders are expected to discuss the global financial crisis, and reform the international financial system and other issues.
