At 5:00 AM the severe tropical storm Linfa was centered about 170 km south by east of Zhangpu County, Fujian Province (22.6 N and 118.3 E) with maximum wind force around its center up to scale 10 (28m/s).

It is forecasted to move north by east at speed of 15 km per hour and get close to coastal areas of Fuqing to Zhangpu, Fujian Province. It may land in parts of those areas in afternoon or tonight, or skirt coast of Fujian and move northeast in Taiwan Straits with decreasing intensity.

Affected by it from day to tonight there will be high wind with scale 7 to 9 in central and northern South China Sea, Balintang Channel, Taiwan Straits, eastern coastal Guangdong, coastal Fujian and Taiwan. The areas that the storm pass will hit by gale up to scale 10 with maximum gust to scale 11 to 12. Most parts of Taiwan, southern and eastern Fujian, and eastern Guangdong will be hit by torrential rain with isolated severe torrential rain. Extreme torrential rain is likely to hit parts of Taiwan.
