Three Gorges Dam Sluices Flood Water

Water gushes from the giant sluice gates of the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River on Wednesday, August 13, 2008. This is the largest volume of water released through Three Gorges Dam to lower water levels since the start of the flood season. The release has caused water levels in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River to rise.
