Pet Dog Survives 70 Days Under Earthquake Rubble

Fei Hongwei, a worker in Hanwang County in Sichuan Province, recently took her pet dog Wang Wang, who survived 70 days under May 12 earthquake rubble, to its new home in Deyang, Sichuan Province.

The dog was at home while she and her husband were out at work on the day of the earthquake, which completely destroyed their house. It was not until July 22, when Fei was finally permitted to go back to salvage what she could from the ruins, that she discovered her dog was still alive.

"The dog had been under my bed where I had kept 10 eggs and a barrel of water. I guess the eggs and water saved my Wang Wang's life," Fei said.
