Lebanon Pledges US$75,000 in Aid for Quake Relief Efforts

The Lebanese government decided on Saturday to donate US$75,000 in aid for the victims of an devastating earthquake that hit southwest China last month.

Rola Nur Din, foreign affairs advisor for Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Fouad Seniora, informed Chinese Ambassador Liu Zhiming of the Lebanese government's decision via a telephone call.

Liu expressed thanks for Lebanon's assistance for China's quake relief efforts.

An 8.0-magnitude earthquake jolted southwest China's Sichuan Province on May 12, killing at least 69,181 people, according to official figures.
