Chinese Embassy in Netherlands Gathers US$1.7 Mln for Quake Victims

Chinese citizens and companies in the Netherlands have donated over 1.1 million euros (US$1.7 million) for the earthquake victims in China.

Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jun said on Wednesday that the embassy had bought 208 tents for the quake-hit regions and sent the rest of the donation to the Chinese Red Cross and China's Ministry of Civil Affairs.

An 8.0-magnitude earthquake jolted southwest China's Sichuan Province on May 12, killing at least 69,176 people, according to official figures.
