Premier Wen Jiabao chaired a State Council quake relief meeting on Monday. The premier urged an all-out effort to prevent post-quake secondary geological disasters.
Wen Jiabao said the May 12 earthquake and its aftershocks have created numerous geological dangers, such as landslides, mudflows and barrier lakes. To prevent further casualties, the premier called for stronger inspection and prevention of hidden geological dangers.
Wen Jiabao said quake reconstruction work must take place in a safe environment, and that residents should be protected from the threat of flooding. The premier also called for the resumption of a disaster warning system.
