Singapore Relief Materials Arrive in Quake Zone

Earthquake relief materials donated by Singapore arrived on Sunday afternoon at Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, via two military planes.

Ma Zhongsheng, a Ministry of Defense official, accepted the US$80,000 worth of materials at the airport.

The relief provided by Singapore was badly needed and would greatly benefit China's post-quake reconstruction, said Ma. He added the donation reflected the friendship between China's people, its military and Singapore.

The relief materials included tents, blankets, moisture-proof cloths and medicine. The supplies were transferred to the Sichuan Provincial Civil Affairs Department for distribution.
