Show to Be Held in Lisbon to Raise Funds for Quake Victims

The Superior School of Chinese Medicine and the Promotion Association of Chinese Traditional Culture in Lisbon will stage a fundraising show Friday to help China's earthquake victims.

The show, featuring Chinese traditional music, singing and martial arts, will take place at Ateneo Comerical School in Lisbon.

On May 12, an earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale rocked China's southwest province of Sichuan, leaving over 60,000 people dead, 350,000 injured.

The Superior School of Chinese Medicine said each visitor is expected to donate money at the show.

The funds will be used to rebuild houses in the quake area. On May 24, an association was established in Portugal to help the earthquake victims.

The Portuguese parliament expressed sympathy to Chinese people and the government announced a commitment to help.
