Feature: Schools in Quake Zones Resume Classes

Children affected by the earthquake are returning to school. Some have managed to stay in their hometowns, but others are far from home.

This is a village in Qingchuan County. Dozens of children have gathered at this temporary classroom for their first class after the earthquake.

Zhang Lin, one student said "I want to study."

Huang Jingmei, another student said "I am glad because we are together again."

These children's school collapsed in the earthquake. With the help of soldiers, a new school has been made with tents.

Li Changbo, one villager said "Although the conditions are not so good, we are very happy that the children can study again."

In a village in Anxian County, soldiers have built another "tent school". To make the space larger, soldiers connected their living tents with the "school". They also made a blackboard with some small boards.

Some migrant workers from the quake zone have traveled to other cities along with their children. Thanks to the efforts of the local authorities, they have resumed their studies at their new homes.

Li Guangyu, CPC Party Chief of Middle School in Henan Province said "We will offer psychological treatment to the children. We hope they will like living and studying here."

Over 30 children from the quake hit areas of Wenchuan, Pengzhou and Mianyang have arrived in Henan Province. They will spend one to three years studying there free of charge.
