Russian, US Militaries Offer Quake Aid to China

Russia's Ministry of Defense will offer emergency humanitarian aid to China's quake-stricken areas, the press spokesman for the Chinese Defense Ministry announced here on Saturday afternoon.

The aid includes 23 mobile field kitchens, 300 military tents and quilts and blankets, which will be airlifted to Chengdu, capital of quake-hit Sichuan Province, by Russian military planes in the near future, the spokesman said.

Previously, the US Department of Defense donated relief supplies worth of US$700,000.

The Chinese Defense Ministry expressed gratitude for the aid from the Russian and US militaries, the spokesman said.

The spokesman welcomed foreign militaries to provide aid to China's quake-hit area, with tents and medicine as the first priority.
