Premier Thanks UN's Support for Quake Relief

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Saturday extended gratitude to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for the United Nations' support and help for China's quake relief.

Wen also introduced China's quake relief efforts and said China would carry out reconstruction as soon as possible.

Speaking at an open area, Wen urged reporters to record the real situations to memorize the dead and console the survivors.

"Let the world people remember the devastating earthquake, remember the life losses, and remember the brave fight of the people in the quake-hit regions and nationwide against the disaster," he said.

Ban Ki-moon arrived in Chengdu, capital city of quake-stricken Sichuan Province, Saturday morning and later visited the Yingxiu Town of Wenchuan County, one of the worst-hit areas in the massive 8.0-magnitude earthquake on May 12.
