Senior official Jia Qinglin on Friday called on China's political advisors to take an active role in offering advice on reconstruction in quake-battered regions.
Political advisors should make pertinent, achievable suggestions on issues such as medical care, infrastructure construction and cultural protection of ethnic minorities in quake-hit areas, said Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
He made the appeal at a meeting on Friday attended by the chairman and vice chairpersons of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee.
He also urged political advisors to make more contributions to the quake-stricken regions through various means.
At a fund-raising function on Wednesday, Jia accepted a donation of 60 million yuan (about US$8.6 million) from Wang Jianlin, board chairman of Wanda Group.
