Senior Official Urges More Quake Aid from Political Advisors

China's political advisors should continue to make contributions to the quake-stricken regions through various means, top political advisor Jia Qinglin said Wednesday.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), accepted a donation of 60 million yuan (about US$8.6 million) from Wang Jianlin, board chairman of Wanda Group, at a fund-raising function on Wednesday.

Wang is a standing committee member of the CPPCC National Committee, the country's top political advisory body.

Jia expressed his appreciation of the active role that private-sector figures are taking in disaster relief work.

"We believe the country will recover from the earthquake and people will rebuild their quake-hit towns by working together," Jia said.
