Li Keqiang Stresses Sheltering of Quake Victims

Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang ordered on Tuesday the production and supply of more tents and makeshift houses to shelter millions of homeless quake victims.

Li continued his trip in quake-hit areas in southwestern Sichuan Province on Tuesday, visiting victims in Wenchuan County, the epicenter of the May 12 magnitude 8.0 quake, and Dujiangyan city.

Tents and awnings have been reported as the most wanted materials after the major quake ravaged Sichuan.

The Vice Premier also underlined the importance of providing food, water, clothing and beddings for the victims, adding that "it is a key task to have the life of the quake-affected people well arranged."

Li, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, arrived in the quake-hit Mianyang City in Sichuan Sunday to oversee disaster relief work.

Li had paid visits to Mianyang, Deyang and Dujiangyan, cities struck hardest by the quake.
