1st Batch of Road-delivered Aid Reaches Yingxiu

The first batch of relief goods transported by road has reached the area worst hit by last Monday's quake.

The road from Chengdu to Yingxiu was finally cleared on Saturday afternoon. And the aid reached Yingxiu on Sunday. Rescue authorities say the relief materials will greatly alleviate the town's food shortage.

Previously, relief goods had to be delivered by boat through a reservoir. Yingxiu is in Wenchuan County, the epicenter of the 8.0-magnitude quake, which has caused enormous damage in Sichuan Province.
